I was recently admitted to Epsom Hospital for an Anterior prolapse repair and vaginal hysterectomy. From the moment I met Miss Ammar at my initial outpatients appointment I felt at ease. With this being my first experience of undergoing major surgery I was understandably nervous and apprehensive but Miss Ammar was extremely reassuring and I knew I would be in safe hands. Miss Ammar took the time to visit me during my recovery in hospital, she is a very kind and caring person which helped the whole experience easier to deal with. I recently had a hysteroscopy at Leatherhead Hospital followed by the removal of a large polyp as a day patient in St. Helier Hospital. My appointments were with Dr. Katy Ammar and her teams in both hospitals. She was most caring and supportive, even visiting me before my day operation at St. Helier and again afterwards in the day ward. She explained all procedures thoroughly and listened carefully to my concerns and anxieties giving me reassurance and confidence.Her caring approach was reflected in the care and support given by her teams. Thankyou Sister Jane and Nurse Jan at Leatherhead and the bright friendly team from Epsom at St. Helier, particularly the nurse who stayed with me when I needed reassurance while the anaesthetic was administered. I had an appointment yesterday with Dr Katy Ammar and was rather nervous for the forthcoming treatment but was treated so well by Dr Ammar and her lovely Sister, Jane and nurse Jan and another whos name I didnt get. They were so kind, and caring. Dr Ammar shook my hand, knew everything that she needed to know before I sat down and chatted to me about the procedure and recommendations. Then she carried out the procedure totally painless and explained everything. Am very happy with my treatment.

I spend much of the year outside of the UK and kept returning for tests and consultations both with the National Health and privately. It was not until I met Katy Ammar that I felt that both my care and concerns were properly and effectively dealt with. My name is Bushra and I am 25 years old and I was detected with Ovarian Cyst or Dermoid Cyst with my right ovary. It was 8.5 cm big and I was told that they will operate on me. I had my initial assessment with Dr Ammar in October 2010. She explained me everything and what was going on in my body. She told me that as the Cyst is big so they have to remove it and I might lose ovary and have to rely on one ovary because of which I was really worried as I don’t have any children yet so it wasn’t at all a good news for me. She assured me and my husband that she will try her best to save the ovary and explained the procedure in detail. Anyway I just had an operation on 15th of November 2010, which went perfect due to Dr. Katy Ammar. She spent a lot more time on my operation then usual to save my ovary even though in discussions with her colleagues, they all anticipated to remove the ovary. She saved it which is great news for me. She came to meet me a lot of times after the operation and discussed what happened. She explained everything perfectly to me and my husband. Even the nurse was surprised that she is a senior consultant and she is coming especially to the ward to explain things to me, whenever I had a question. This made me really happy. She is a very nice, cheerful lady with whom one can discuss anything in detail. I would highly recommend Dr. Ammar and her team.
